Melaka State Secretary Zaidi Johari passes away


MELAKA: State Secretary Datuk Zaidi Johari has passed away following a heart attack.

A statement issued by his office said the 54-year-old breathed his last at 8.15am on Friday (April 19) at Hospital Melaka.

Zaidi was appointed to the post on Jan 5, 2022. He leaves behind a wife and four children.

Zaidi started his career in 1996 as an assistant secretary in the Public Service Department.

He then was transferred to Negri Sembilan as assistant state secretary in 1998 and held several positions in various government departments there until 2016.

He was made director of the Melaka Land and Mines office in 2017 and then state finance officer in 2020 before being elevated as the 29th state secretary two years later.

The statement said Zaidi would be buried in his hometown in Tebong, Alor Gajah at 2.30pm Friday.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh will issue a statement on Zaidi's passing later, it added.
