KLIA shooting: Malaysia Airports honours Corporal Mohammad Shafiq Safi’ai


KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia Airports has extended its appreciation to an Aviation Security (AVSEC) member Corporal Mohammad Shafiq Safi’ai for his courageous and swift action during the shooting incident at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) on April 14.

In a Facebook post on Saturday (April 20), Malaysia Airports praised Mohammad Shafiq for his dedication to ensuring visitor safety.

"Shafiq sternly warned the suspect by aiming his firearm at the man, who fired two shots and later fled the scene,” it said.

The post included a photo of Mohammad Shafiq receiving a certificate of appreciation and a RM1,000 contribution from Malaysia Airports.

In the incident at about 1.30am at the KLIA Terminal 1 arrival hall, a man fired two shots, one of which struck a local man who was also a bodyguard. - Bernama
