KUALA LUMPUR: She was only 17, fresh out of school and excited about the prospect of getting a job. But she ended up being raped twice by her “employer”.
Ampang Jaya deputy OCPD Supt Nazruel Ekram Abu Saare said the victim told police that she had been lured to meet with a man on April 9.
“The victim was forced into a hotel by the suspect at about 2am and was raped. The rape occurred twice at the same hotel.
“It is believed that the victim had been promised a job by the suspect and was invited to meet with her ‘employer’. But she was then raped,” said Supt Nazruel Ekram in a statement yesterday.
Investigations into the case led to the arrest of a 36-year-old businessman at his home in Ulu Langat on April 17.
“The suspect tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine. He has been remanded for six days, until April 23,” said Supt Nazruel Ekram.
The case is being investigated under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 for physical sexual assault on a child.
On a separate case, Supt Nazruel Ekram said police have arrested the boyfriend of a saleswoman after he allegedly molested her disabled sister.
He said the victim’s sister told police that she was informed of the incident on April 15.
“The 29-year-old victim, who is a disability card holder, said she had been groped ... by the suspect who is also the complainant’s boyfriend.
“Investigations showed that the victim had bumped into the suspect at the building’s lift. He then invited her to hang out with him on his motorcycle before promising to bring her back home.
“After they returned home, the suspect brought the victim to a staircase behind the lift. That was when he hugged her while also groping her chest and touching her private parts without her consent,” said Supt Nazruel Ekram.
Investigations led to the arrest of a 38-year-old cleaner at about 8pm on April 17.
He added that the suspect also had four previous police records.
