Flight at Tawau airport returns to normal after recent Mt Ruang eruption

KOTA KINABALU: Flights in and out of Sabah's East coast Tawau airport continued despite the Mt Ruang eruption in Indonesia's Sulawesi Island early Tuesday morning (April 30).

Malaysia Airports Berhad (MAB) Tawau airport manager Yakub Abu Bakar said the airport operations continued as usual.

He said only a few Air Asia flights scheduled for Tuesday evening have been rescheduled for Wednesday (May 1).

Ruang volcano erupted again early Tuesday, spewing lava and prompting Indonesian authorities to issue the highest level of alert.

Dozens of flights in and out of Sabah's major airports were disrupted due to cancellations and delays for 48 hours from April 18 after the Ruang Volcano erupted on April 16.
