Motorcyclist dies after colliding with vehicle in Sabah


KOTA KINABALU: A motorcyclist in his forties was killed during an accident involving another vehicle at Kilometre 21 stretch along Jalan Semporna-Tawau, on Monday.

Semporna district acting police chief Deputy Superintendent Fauzi Abd Kadir in a statement here, said the collision occurred at 5.30am when the immigrant victim was on his way to Tawau coming from Semporna.

“At the time, a female civil servant in her twenties was driving a car coming from the opposite direction (from Tawau towards Semporna).

“Upon reaching the stretch, the woman lost control of the car and went into the opposite lane, crashing into the motorcyclist who died on the spot. The woman driver did not sustain any injuries.

“The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 (causing death by reckless or dangerous driving), where if found guilty, the offender could face a jail term of no less than five years and no more than 10 years, and liable for a fine of no less than RM20,000 and not exceeding RM50,000,” he added.
