Case of human remains in Paroi river classified as murder, say police


SEREMBAN: The police have classified the case of a man whose tattooed remains were found in a river in Paroi near here as murder.

District police chief Asst Comm Mohamad Hatta Che Din said the victim is believed to be a foreigner and among other injuries was found with a cracked skull and a broken jaw.

His remains were found floating in the river under a bridge by the public at around 2pm on April 27.

"The victim was clad in long pants and had tattoos on both arms and chest. We did not find any documents on the victim," he said in a statement.

ACP Mohamad Hatta said a post mortem on the remains revealed that the victim suffered the injuries while he was alive.

The case is being probed under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

He said anyone with a missing family member or those with information on the case can contact investigating officer ASP Saufi Malik at 011 2062 5464 or the district police station at 06-6033222 to assist in investigations.
