Hajiji lauds Lions Club for elevating single mothers in Sabah


KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah government has praised the Lions Club for its initiatives to empower single mothers in the state.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor also lauded the club's efforts in assisting the underprivileged in the community.

"Your 'Women Empowerment: Empowering Single Mothers' initiative, led by 25-strong Lions Club members from Sabah for 20 single mothers under the auspices of the Sabah Single Mothers Association, has benefited single mothers through support rendered and learnings taught to them to find new ways to make a living," he said on Friday (May 3).

Hajiji’s speech was delivered by state Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship Minister Datuk Phoong Jin Zhe at the 62nd Multiple District 308 (MD308) Lions Convention 2024 opening ceremony at the Magellan Sutera Harbour Resort.

Hajiji further commended the club for its collaborative efforts in serving communities.

"I am filled with admiration at the remarkable accomplishments of Multiple District 308.

"Your commitment and dedication to service have seen some 18,507 activities carried out, positively impacting over 2.1 million individuals and racking up an impressive 572,078 volunteer hours," he said.
