PETALING JAYA: Delegates from English portal China Daily Asia Pacific paid a courtesy visit to Menara Star with the goal of understanding the dedication behind Star Media Group’s (SMG) operations.

Led by China Daily Group deputy editor-in-chief Zhou Li, the delegation consisted of two Hong Kong Legislative Council members Dominic Lee Tsz King and Lam Lam Nixie along with other key China Daily staff and local influencers.

The group was met on arrival by SMG chief content officer Datin Paduka Esther Ng and managing editor Brian Martin who, after exchanging pleasantries, accompanied them on a tour of the Star Gallery to learn more about the media organisation’s impactful stories and events throughout its over five decade long history.

The delegation also visited SMG’s content department where they were given a briefing on its online and print operations.

Later, SMG Group chief executive officer Chan Seng Fatt had a short discussion with the visitors over tea.

When met, Zhou exclaimed his awe at the operations behind one of Malaysia's leading English newspapers.

“While modern print media has generally become pessimistic, the vitality and quality of journalism in The Star is still very impressive.

“I hope we can work out the details together for future collaborations, especially when it comes to issues around Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) aspects,” he said at the end of his visit on Wednesday (May 8).
