Man with 33 priors nabbed over Tawau burglary

KOTA KINABALU: A man with 33 drug and criminal offences on his record was among two suspected burglars arrested in connection with a sundry shop break-in at Sabah's east coast Tawau district.

Tawau OCPD Asst Comm Jasmin Hussin said the two suspects, aged 39 and 19, were caught in separate operations in the district on Tuesday (May 7) in follow-up investigations of the break-in which the shop owner reported on April 26.

He said one suspect's record involved offences under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Prevention of Crime Act 1959.

In a statement on Wednesday (May 8), ACP Jasmin said the older suspect was arrested in the Jalan Tanjung Batu area while the teenager was arrested at the Hilltop area along Jalan Ytara in the district.

He said police also seized the teenager's mobile phone and added that the burglary involves cash and sundries.

ACP Jasmin urged the public to continue channelling information of criminal and drug activities to the police.

"Give us information (even if those breaking the law are) family members, neighbours or residents of your community," he added.
