Swede found dead on yacht in Labuan


LABUAN: A Swedish sailor has been found dead on board his yacht anchored near Kampung Patau-Patau waters.

Labuan police chief Supt Mohd Hamizi Halim said the body was found by an individual who then alerted authorities at 7.16pm on Thursday (May 9).

He said the deceased, identified as Swesvahn Dick Thomas, 55, is believed to have died several days ago.

Supt Mohd Hamizi also said the body had been transferred to the Labuan Hospital forensic department, adding that details were scant as investigations are ongoing

He urged those with information on the case to contact the police to aid the investigation.

Police sought help from the Fire and Rescue Department to remove Thomas' body from the yacht.

Firemen in full personal protective gear commenced the operation at 10.22pm and approximately an hour to retrieve his remains. – Bernama
