Another two detained for molotov cocktail attack at KL nightspot


KUALA LUMPUR: Two more local men have been detained in connection with the firebombing of an entertainment outlet on Jalan Yap Kwan Seng early Thursday morning (May 9).

Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said both suspects, aged 25 to 28, were detained on Saturday (May 11).

"The latest arrests bring the total of those detained in the case to four suspects.

"All suspects have been remanded until Tuesday (May 14)," he said when contacted on Saturday.

The motive behind the attack is still under investigation, he added.

Earlier, the police had arrested two local men at Batu Caves on Friday afternoon (May 10) in connection with the case.

The case is being investigated under Section 435 and 506 of the Penal Code for committing mischief by fire or any explosive substance and criminal intimidation, respectively.

A video of the attack, believed to be closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage, has been circulating online. The incident is believed to have happened on May 9 at 2.18am.
