Pakatan's Pang Sock Tao. — KK SHAM/The Star

PETALING JAYA: Pakatan Harapan candidate Pang Sock Tao has won the by-election, according to unofficial results.

9.10pm: (EC, official) Pakatan's Pang Sock Tao (8,881 votes); Perikatan's Khairul Azhari Saut (4,732); Independent Nyau Ke Xin (117) and Parti Rakyat Malaysia Hafizah Zainuddin (83).

Votes counted: 45/78 streams

Majority: 4,149

8.35pm: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has congratulated Pakatan for successfully defending the Kuala Kubu Baharu seat, Bernama reported.

8.15pm: According to an unofficial count, Pakatan's Pang Sock Tao has won the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election. Pang, (13,675 votes); Perikatan's Khairul Azhari Saut (9,837); Independent Nyau Ke Xin (183) and Parti Rakyat Malaysia Hafizah Zainuddin (149).

Total votes counted: 23,934 (60%).

8.10pm: (EC, official) Pakatan's Pang Sock Tao (5,494 votes); Perikatan's Khairul Azhari Saut (2,091); Independent Nyau Ke Xin (74) and Parti Rakyat Malaysia Hafizah Zainuddin (48).

Streams counted: 26/78

Majority: 3,403

8.02pm: Congratulations have started to trickle in, with Umno secretary-general Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki claiming victory for Pang.

8pm: (EC, official) Pakatan's Pang Sock Tao (4,994 votes); Perikatan's Khairul Azhari Saut (1,622); Independent Nyau Ke Xin (67) and Parti Rakyat Malaysia's Hafizah Zainuddin (41).

8pm: (Unofficial) Pakatan's Pang Sock Tao (11,612 votes); Perikatan's Khairul Azhari Saut (8,250); Independent Nyau Ke Xin (155) and Parti Rakyat Malaysia Hafizah Zainuddin (128).

Total votes counted: 20,145 (50%).

7.55pm: The Election Commission releases first official count figures. Pakatan's Pang Sock Tao leads with 3,956 votes; Perikatan's Khairul Azhari Saut (766); Independent Nyau Ke Xin (53) and Parti Rakyat Malaysia Hafizah Zainuddin (30).

Streams counted: 18 out of 78

7.45pm: (Unofficial) Pakatan's Pang Sock Tao (9,530 votes); Perikatan's Khairul Azhari Saut (6,148); Independent Nyau Ke Xin (131) and Parti Rakyat Malaysia's Hafizah Zainuddin (97).

Total votes counted: 15,906 (40%).

7.27pm: (Unofficial) Pakatan's Pang Sock Tao (6,302 votes); Perikatan's Khairul Azhari Saut (3,549); Independent Nyau Ke Xin (80) and Parti Rakyat Malaysia's Hafizah Zainuddin (58).

Total votes counted: 9,989 (25%).

7.15pm: (Unofficial) Pakatan's Pang Sock Tao (4,897 votes); Perikatan's Khairul Azhari Saut (2,368); Independent Nyau Ke Xin (52) and Parti Rakyat Malaysia's Hafizah Zainuddin (33).

Total votes counted: 7,350 (19%).

7pm: Pakatan's Pang Sock Tao has garnered 3,078 votes as of 7pm with 4,300 votes counted, according to unofficial results.

Perikatan's Khairul Azhari Saut has 1,181 votes, Independent Nyau Ke Xin (27) and Parti Rakyat Malaysia Hafizah Zainuddin (14).

6.35pm: 916 ballots of candidates have been counted, most who participated in early voting, with Pang garnering 693 votes, while Perikatan Nasional's Khairul Azhari Saut received 221 votes.

Hafizah Zainuddin from Parti Rakyat Malaysia and Independent candidate Nyau Ke Xin have received one vote each.

Ballot are still being counted at the vote-tallying centre at the Hulu Selangor Multipurpose Hall and District Sports Complex.

On May 7, 97% or 769 police and military personnel as well as their spouses fulfilled their responsibility as early voters in the by-election.

According to the Election Commission, the KKB constituency has 40,226 registered voters comprising 39,362 ordinary voters, 625 policemen, 238 military personnel, as well as their spouses and one overseas absentee voter.
