KKB polls: Polling booths are open, nearly 40,000 to cast their votes


HULU SELANGOR: The by-election for the Kuala Kubu Baharu state constituency will take place on Saturday (May 11) with 39,362 constituents expected to cast their ballots.

From 8am until 6pm, the electorate will exercise their democratic rights at 18 polling stations with a total of 74 channels.

Except for the SJKC Bukit Fraser polling station, its 40 voters will have until 2pm to cast their votes.

Votes will be counted at the Hulu Selangor Multipurpose Hall, which is located next to the district sports complex.

The Election Commission (EC) has 40,226 people on the voter roll for the constituency, which includes 39,362 regular voters, 625 police officers, 238 members of the Armed Forces, their respective spouses and one voter residing abroad.

On May 7, a total of 769 early voters fulfilled their responsibility, which the EC said represented a 97% voter turnout.

The by-election will be a four-cornered among Pang Sock Tao (Pakatan Harapan), Khairul Azhari Saut (Perikatan Nasional), Hafizah Zainuddin (Parti Rakyat Malaysia) and Independent candidate Nyau Ke Xin.

The by-election was called after the death of incumbent Lee Kee Hiong, who passed away on March 21 due to cancer.
