PETALING JAYA: In the midst of their hectic routines, four children noticed their mother’s daily battle with aching legs caused by extended periods of standing in the factory.
They decided to combine their resources and buy her a thoughtful present: a leg massager.
The seemingly small gift held great significance, symbolising a display of love and gratitude towards their mother, Nagadevi Arumugam, 50.
“It’s not just about the gift itself, but the thought and consideration behind it,” said Nagadevi’s eldest daughter Thanusyah Vigneswaran, 26.
“Our mother has sacrificed so much for us, enduring physical discomfort to provide for our family. This was the least we could do to show our appreciation. It’s important to let her know how much we value her.”
Nagadevi’s birthday celebration took place a few days earlier, providing the perfect opportunity to present the gift.
Patrisha Ann Selvaraj pays tribute to her beloved mother by bringing flowers to her grave on significant occasions such as Mothers Day, her birthday, and the anniversary of her mother’s passing.
“I will always purchase her favourite flowers – carnations and daisies – and visit the cemetery, tidy the area, and offer prayers,” said the 28-year-old teacher.
“I will always spend about an hour talking with her there, recalling all the memories we spent together when she was alive.”
Patrisha said she continues to deeply miss her mother, even after eight years have passed.
“I miss her every day, but I miss her even more on days like this,” she said.
“My father and I would regularly prepare her favourite meals, such as curry and rice, and share them with our relatives and neighbours as a way to honour her memory,” she added.
