Another tree topples in KL, Jalan Pinang temporarily closed

KUALA LUMPUR: Another tree has fallen in the city here along Jalan Pinang.

According to images from a Kuala Lumpur Command and Control Centre (KLCCC) traffic camera, the tree, located near Menara Prestige, is blocking all lanes on the road, which has been temporarily closed on Monday (May 13).

As seen in viral videos, several parked cars were damaged in the incident but there has been no word of any casualties so far.

A Kuala Lumpur City Hall spokesman said their contractors were already on site.

“Our crew are actively clearing debris and managing the impacts at the affected site as we speak.

“We urge motorists and the public to exercise caution and avoid these areas until normalcy is restored,’” said the spokesman.

An officer manning the KLCCC said apart from the Jalan Pinang treefall incident, minor flash floods were reported in Jalan Awan Besar and the KL Seremban Highway.

The tree is located about 600m away from another tree which toppled along Jalan Sultan Ismail last week on May 7.

One person was killed, while two others were injured in the previous incident.
