Dr Wee attends international varsity debate at alma mater UTM


PETALING JAYA: A total of 11 local universities and eight foreign universities participated in the 4th UTM International Varsity Mandarin Debate Championship.

The event was graced by MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong, a former student of the university.

"As an ex-student and alumnus of UTM, I feel extremely proud and honoured to stand here as the guest of honour at the opening of the competition," he said in a Facebook post on Sunday (May 12).

"Congratulations to all participants for their efforts and achievements as well as proving their own abilities and courage in defending views and ideas.

"Well done to the executive committee that was able to organise this event smoothly and well," added Dr Wee.

Zhejiang University, China won first place while Sichuan University, China clinched the second spot.
