Storm uproots trees in KL, several vehicles and house damaged


KUALA LUMPUR: A storm has swept through the city, uprooting five trees and causing damage to a house and at least eight vehicles.

According to the Fire and Rescue Department, they received calls about fallen trees between 4.50pm and 6.13pm on Monday (May 13).

"A tree fell along Jalan Rahmah, Taman Gembira but did not cause any casualties.

"Another tree also fell along Jalan Selesa 1, Taman Gembira and damaged the roof of a house," it said in a statement.

It added that a tree also fell at the Universiti Malaya Medical Faculty and damaged a car. No casualties were reported.

"We received another report that a tree fell near Menara Prestige along Jalan Pinang and damaged three cars and five motorcycles. No injuries were reported.

"Another tree also fell near the Universiti Malaya examination building and damaged one car there. No injuries were reported," it said.
