Cops investigating Bandar Bukit Tinggi brawl that went viral

KLANG: Police have opened an investigation into a fight between three men which occurred in front of a restaurant at Bandar Bukit Tinggi here.

A video of the altercation has since gone viral on social media.

South Klang OCPD Asst Comm Cha Hoong Fong said they received a police report from a 19-year-old man who claimed he sustained injuries following the fight which occurred at around 8.15pm on Monday (May 13).

"In the incident which allegedly occurred near Jalan Batu Nilam 1E, Bandar Bukit Tinggi, investigations revealed the victim was driving a black car and almost hit a motorcyclist as he was driving into the parking lot.

"There were some words exchanged between the 24-year-old motorcyclist and the victim, which resulted in a heated argument," he said in a statement on Tuesday (May 14).

He said not long after the motorcyclist’s elder brother, a 27-year-old man, arrived at the scene.

"One of them grabbed the victim by his shirt and shoved him on the bonnet of a car while the other suspect hit the victim's face once.

"The victim managed to flee the scene and passers-by tried to calm the situation," he said, adding that the victim suffered minor injuries to his eyebrow and scratches to his right elbow. He said an investigation paper was opened under Section 160 of the Penal Code for committing an affray.

He said the investigating officer has recorded the statements of all individuals involved and the investigation paper will be referred to the deputy public prosecutor soon.

"We advise the public to refrain from circulating the video which could cause public anxiety.

"Those with information on the case can contact the South Klang police hotline at 03-3376 2222 or go to the nearest police station," he said.
