Widow gets lifelong monthly Socso compensation


THE family of a man killed in a workplace accident in a Penang received a visit from the Human Resources Minister and compensation from Social Security Organisation (Socso), Makkal Osai reported.

Muniandy Subramaniam, 51, died after falling about 20m at a factory in Seberang Perai.

Minister Steven Sim visited the victim’s home in Sungai Jawi along with officials from Socso.

The victim’s wife Komala Arumugam, 49, and three children received funds for funeral expenses from the minister.

Sim also said that Komala would receive a lifelong monthly compensation from Socso.

Kamalakannan, 52, and his wife Malathi, 38, were getting ready to distribute wedding invitations when Malathi noticed that one of her relatives’ names was missing.

The heartbroken Malathi made the tragic decision to hang herself from a tree in their backyard.
