KULAI: Four men were arrested for robbery and attempted kidnapping in Johor.

Kulai OCPD Supt Tan Seng Lee said the four had tried to rob and kidnap a 47-year-old woman at Taman Lagenda Putra around 9.30pm on May 5," he said.

It was reported the victim sustained a cut on her lips that required stitches and bruises on her arms and legs during an alleged attempted abduction in front of her home.

The four men had allegedly punched and dragged the woman into a waiting car by the roadside. However, the attempt was foiled when her cries for help and chaos from the struggle made her husband rush outside.

Upon seeing her husband, the suspects quickly abandoned their plans and fled the scene.

"The four, aged 21 to 40, were arrested in three separate locations in Johor Baru and Kulim, Kedah, between 10.50am and 4.50pm on Monday (May 13)," he said.

Supt Tan said police also seized a car with a remote control, four mobile phones and a tablet.

“All suspects have admitted to arranging and planning to rob and abduct the victim," he said.

Supt Tan added the investigation was still ongoing to determine whether the suspects were involved in other crime-related activities.

He said all suspects tested positive for methamphetamine, and they also have previous criminal records.

All suspects have been remanded seven days, from Tuesday (May 14) to Monday (May 20), to assist with the investigation.
