PUTRAJAYA: Three security guards who allegedly used fake identity cards and other people's identity cards to find work have been arrested.
National Registration Department Investigations and Enforcement deputy director Mohamad Naaim Mat Noor said the three were detained at Kajang around 6pm on Wednesday (May 15).
"We monitored the three suspects' movements between 30 and 34 for about two weeks before they were finally detained. They were working as security guards when they were arrested.
"Based on our investigations, two suspects were using identification cards that did not belong to them.
"One of the suspects was also found to be using a fake identity card," he said when contacted on Thursday (May 16).
He said further checks revealed that the suspects used these documents to apply for work in Malaysia and had been using these identity cards for four months and two years.
"The three suspects are all from the Philippines and were not related to each other.
"Some of the identification documents were borrowed from their friends," he said.
He said the three suspects will be taken to the Kajang Magistrates Court to be remanded.
"We want to remand the suspects to help us with further investigations under Rule 25(1)(e) of the National Registration Regulations 1990.
"The suspects could face a maximum of three years in jail or a maximum RM20,000 fine or both if convicted," he said.
He advised the public to refrain from allowing others to use their identification documents for any reason or face stern action if caught.
