Two new hospitals to go up soon in Perak

IPOH: Two new hospitals are expected to be completed and open in Perak before the end of this year, says state health committee chairman A. Sivanesan.

Sivanesan said the Seri Iskandar and Parit Buntar Hospitals in Perak Tengah and Kerian districts will be open before the end of the year.

"Both hospitals will have a total of about 320 beds," he said in a press conference after the launch of the LEC Eye Centre's 50th anniversary celebration by Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming here on Thursday (May 16).

Sivanesan said despite speculation, the hospital in Parit Buntar would not be renamed.

"There have been talks that the new hospital would be renamed as the Bagan Serai Hospital, which is not accepted by many people.

"The state executive council has unanimously agreed to retain the name as the Parit Buntar Hospital," he said, adding that the Pangkor health clinic will also be open before the end of the year.

"I will also write to the Health Minister not to change the name," he added.
