THE Melaka Wildlife and National Parks Department (Perhilitan) will carry out periodic patrols and set traps following an incident involving a goat being bitten by a crocodile in Kampung Tengah, Pulau Gadong, Klebang, last Tuesday, Sinar Harian reported.
In a statement, the department said the attack by the crocodile happened about 6pm along the riverbank of Sungai Ayer Salak not far from the farm where the goat is reared.
“The incident was reported by the Klebang Besar Village Development and Security Committee via a phone call to Melaka Perhilitan, who went to the scene to carry out further investigation.
“The officers concluded that the crocodile attack took place 100m from the goat farm,” the statement said, adding it was the first time such an incident took place.
The department has put up warning signs along the riverbank to remind the public to be alert.
The department also advised the public to always be careful and not provoke if they come across any wild animals.
> Popular Malaysian singer Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza Tarudin (pic), 45, has urged people to exercise restraint when commenting against others, especially those who support the Blockout 2024 movement, Harian Metro reported.
Siti said that there was no need to embarrass people.
“It’s not good to go as far as cursing. If you want to rebuke or get angry, you have to use proper etiquette. There’s no need to embarrass people,” said the singer in response to the actions of a few individuals who left threatening and angry comments on social media celebrity sites.
“I understand that perhaps they (individuals involved) want to defend their religion but it can be done properly. We have to look at what our religion teaches us.
“If you don’t like it, it’s better to keep quiet,” said Siti when met at the Hi-Tea Mum2Mum event organised by Farm Fresh.
