Johor Immigration nabs 18 foreigners without travel documents


ISKANDAR PUTERI: A total of 18 foreigners have been arrested by the Johor Immigration Department for staying and entering the country without proper travel documents.

Johor Immigration director Baharuddin Tahir said that the operation was conducted together with the Iskandar Puteri City Council (MBIP) at 8.50pm on Sunday (May 19).

"Fourteen men and two women from Myanmar and another two men from Bangladesh were arrested, all aged between 19 and 39.

"The operation was conducted following reports of liquor being sold by foreigners.

"During the operation, three premises were inspected. 26 foreigners were checked, 18 of them were arrested," he said in a statement here on Monday (May 20).

The case is being investigated under Section 6(1)(c) and Section 15(1)(c) of the Immigration Act for entering the country without valid travel documents and overstaying.
