13 nabbed in raids on scam call centres in KL


KUALA LUMPUR: Thirteen foreigners have been detained in raids on scam call centres operating out of units in a luxury condominium at Jalan Ceylon here.

Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Noor Dellhan Yahaya said the raids, conducted at about 8pm on Tuesday (May 21), saw 11 men and two women aged 23 to 38 arrested.

"We also seized seven laptops, 21 mobile phones and a modem.

"The syndicate was targeting victims from England and China," he said in a statement on Wednesday (May 22).

Those detained were working as customer service officers, he said.

"None of them have criminal records and they have all been remanded until Friday (May 24)," he added.

ACP Noor Dellhan urged anyone with information on criminal activity to contact the Dang Wangi district police headquarters at 03-26002222 or any nearest police station.
