Man sustains first-degree burns in Sabah house fire


KOTA KINABALU: A man suffered first-degree burns on several parts of his body while escaping from his burning house in Kampung Telupid in Beluran on Saturday (May 25).

Beluran Fire and Rescue Department station chief Edoen Macheal said a team of six members was rushed to the scene after receiving a distress call at 7.57am.

"Upon arrival, they found the wooden house completely destroyed.

“The team extinguished the fire using water sourced from the river," he said in a statement.

The victim was given initial treatment before being sent to the Telupid health clinic.

He added that the blaze was brought under control at 10.40am and the operation ended at 10.55am.

"The estimated loss and cause of the fire are still under investigation," said Machael.
