Rela officer injured after hit-and-run incident in Johor


KLUANG: A People's Volunteer Corps (Rela) personnel sustained injuries after becoming a victim of a hit-and-run incident at KM45 along Jalan Batu Pahat-Mersing here.

Kluang OCPD Asst Comm Bahrin Mohd Noh said the Rela personnel, who was the motorcyclist, has been identified as 26-year-old Muhammad Badrulamin Abd Aziz.

“Police received public information about the incident involving a motorcycle with an unknown type of car and its registration number at around 6.40am on Saturday (May 25) morning.

“Initial investigation found that the incident occurred when both the motorcycle and the car were coming from Kluang heading towards Batu Pahat.

“When at the scene, the car, which was on the left lane, tried to make a U-turn where it then hit the motorcycle. The car driver then sped off from the scene,” he said here on Saturday.

According to ACP Bahrin the victim sustained a fracture on his right shoulder and another fracture on his right hip while his motorcycle was damaged.

He said the victim was rushed to the Ence' Besar Hajjah Khalsom Hospital here for medical treatment.

ACP Bahrin said the investigation was ongoing under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for negligent driving and urged those who have information relating to the incident to contact Kluang police hotline at 07-7766822 or lodge a report at the nearest police station.
