Investigate DRT deal, says MCA division youth leaders

PETALING JAYA: The issue of whether Selangor’s Demand-Responsive Transit (DRT) project was awarded as a contract or a proof of concept should be properly clarified, says the MCA Youth division here.

MCA Petaling Jaya division youth chief Andy Teoh Tuck Wah, when met at the police headquarters here on Wednesday (May 29), said that they had lodged a police report to allow the authorities to look into the matter involving Asia Mobility Technologies Sdn Bhd.

Teoh filed the report with other MCA members including Yang Kok Bao, who is the Bangi division’s youth chief.

"We lodged the report because according to a previous statement by our Prime Minister if there is a report, the relevant authorities should investigate.

"We are not accusing anyone,” he said, adding that it was only proper for a clarification to be made as the project involved public funds.

On Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil saying Asia Mobility Technologies was only provided a proof-of-concept project, Teoh said the matter should be clarified.

"The latest information is that it is a proof of concept, but all the while the news stated it’s a contract. So suddenly there is a change and I feel it's suspicious.

"Whether it is a proof of concept, or contract, or even something else, we don’t know. If there is nothing wrong then let the relevant authorities clarify, and this also includes the Selangor government coming out to say that it is a proof of concept and no money will be paid to them.

"But if it is a real contract and money is being spent, was there any disclosure of interest? Maybe this company is the best option, so you have to tell us that there is no one (company) better outside,” he said.

Asia Mobility Technologies was founded by Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh's husband, Ramachandran Muniandy, and another partner. Ramachandran is the CEO of the company.
