Two joint ventures awarded contract for KL Tower ownership for next 20 years, says Fahmi


PUTRAJAYA: Two companies doing joint ventures have been awarded with a contract for Kuala Lumpur Tower (KL Tower) management ownership for the next 20 years, says Fahmi Fadzil.

The Communications Minister said the two companies are LSH Best Builders Sdn Bhd and Service Master (M) Sdn Bhd.

According to him, both firms have fulfilled the requirements during the bidding process.

"Five companies had submitted their tenders and proposals to continue the KL Tower operations and two were selected by the Public-Private Partnership Unit under the Prime Minister's Department.

"Both of the companies are doing joint ventures and have met the requirements (of the contract).

"There were also no issues identified in the screenings and the next step now is to issue the appointment letter to the companies," he said during a press conference at the Communications Ministry here on Wednesday (May 29).

In December 2022, Fahmi said his ministry would examine the acquisition of the ownership of the management of KL Tower from Telekom Malaysia (TM) through its subsidiary Menara Kuala Lumpur Sdn Bhd (MKLSB) by Hydroshoppe Sdn Bhd.

Days later, TM confirmed its decision to pull out from its long-term concessionary operating and maintenance of KL Tower.
