MODERN Indonesian disco trailblazing duo Diskoria will share the stage with Malaysia’s Queen of Jazz, Datuk Sheila Majid, at the A Time Travel Diskoria Concert with Special Guest Sheila Majid concert on June 14 at Zepp Kuala Lumpur, Berita Harian reported.
This marks Diskoria’s first collaboration with a local artiste and their third performance in Malaysia, a country where they have received enthusiastic support since their debut single Balada Insan Muda in 2015.
The duo, Merdi Simanjuntak and Fadli Aat, expressed their excitement about working with Sheila Majid, describing it as a dream come true.
“We have long admired her work and are thrilled with the opportunity provided by the concert organisers,” they said.
Diskoria are known for their unique dance music style and popular tracks like Badai Telah Berlalu, Ballad of Young People, Pelangi Cinta, and Serenata Jiwa Lara.
The concert, organised by My Deteksi along with Sembang Kari Entertainment and Tourism Malaysia, aims to deliver a memorable 90-minute show.
> Hamidan Yahaya, 59, took the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) 2023 examination and passed, scoring a B+ in Science.
Hamidan, a driver at Chuping’s 504 Territorial Army Camp, retook the exam as a private candidate, Harian Metro reported.
“Because of my advanced age, a lot of people questioned my motivations, but I wanted to demonstrate to my grandchildren that learning is possible at any age,” he said.
Hamidan’s unexpected success in Science was self-driven, using books bought by his children and frequent practice, despite his busy schedule preventing him from attending classes.
In his home in Jejawi, Arau, he studied at midnight because it was the only quiet moment of the day amid the bustling household of kids and grandkids.
