Johor BN convention on June 8, unity among component parties primary focus, says Ahmad

JOHOR BAHRU: The unity of Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties will be a primary focus at the Johor BN Convention to be held at the Persada Johor International Convention Centre on June 8, says Johor BN deputy chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan.

He said the convention was expected to be attended by top BN leaders, including its chairman, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and secretary-general Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir.

"Among the key issues will be unity among us, namely MIC and MCA, as well as Umno and Friends of BN. Additionally, we will discuss how to maintain our victory in 40 out of 56 Johor state assembly seats.

"We will also touch on strategies to win back four seats we lost to the opposition, as well as issues concerning young voters, education, and the economy," he said at a press conference at the Johor Umno Liaison Office here on Thursday (May 30).

Johor Umno Liaison Committee secretary Datuk Abdul Halim Suleiman was also present.

Ahmad, who is also the committee’s deputy chairman and a member of the Umno Supreme Council, said Johor BN component party leaders would also deliver speeches at the convention.

The convention, he said, would also include the submission of the convention's resolutions and sessions for component party presentations.

"Another important aspect of this convention is the handing over of appointment letters to BN Coordination Committee chairmen for all 26 Umno divisions in Johor.

"We expect around 1,000 attendees, and we invite all those (members) who are interested to listen to the important speeches from the leaders," he added. – Bernama
