PETALING JAYA: Parents have been seeking quality time and cost-effective ways to ensure their children enjoy a meaningful and enriching time during the school holidays this week.
Harbans Kaur Mehinder Singh said her 13-year-old daughter has been spending time on additional school activities and completing her homework.
“Given the economic situation and the brief period of this holiday, I plan to take her to nearby places for some much-needed relaxation and enjoyment.
“Spending quality time isn’t about taking the kids somewhere far away.
“Cooking their favourite meals, going out for a cup of coffee, and sitting together to enjoy a shared hobby are also wonderful ways to spend time together without incurring significant costs,” said the 49-year-old engineering clerk.
Vally Arumugam said she plans to take her kids, aged nine and seven, for more swimming and karate lessons.
“I aim to blend my roles as mother and teacher by giving my kids quizzes and homework on subjects where they need improvement,” said the primary school teacher.
Nor Hafiza Zainol, 43, said her son, who is currently in Form Two, is excited to spend his days playing in the park, hanging out with friends, and enjoying outdoor activities.
“In the current economic situation, my husband and I are focused on finding affordable or expense-free activities.
“We’ve planned visits to public parks, engaged in craft projects at home, and made trips to places that don’t require spending money,” said the housewife.
