Zhang implies she was emotionally blackmailed

CHINESE actress Zhang Ziyi set tongues wagging after she implied that her ex-husband had emotionally blackmailed her during their marriage, which led to speculation that it was the reason for their divorce, reported China Press.

Zhang, who had been married to rockstar Wang Feng for more than eight years, recently let slip about her husband’s alleged behaviour during a press junket promoting her new film “She’s Got No Name.”

The actress, who plays a battered woman in the movie, said in an interview that she has never experienced physical domestic violence.

“Emotional blackmail can sometimes be scarier than domestic violence,” she said.

Her claim sparked speculation that Wang had emotionally blackmailed her during their marriage.

“We know who she is referring to,” one Internet user wrote.

Others were quick to support the actress by saying that emotional blackmail can often feel much worse than physical pain.

It was reported that “She’s Got No Name” is based on the true story of Zhan Zhoushi, who was sentenced to death for murdering her husband and chopping him into 16 pieces.

However, it was later revealed that Zhan was beaten and raped multiple times in her marriage.

Unable to withstand the violence, she killed her husband in his sleep on March 20, 1945.

The artist, known only as Zheng, runs a tattoo studio in China’s Guiyang city where he received a phone call about a tattoo just below the naval.

The caller said she wanted it “the bigger the better”.

When the caller arrived at the outlet, Zheng noticed that she looked young and asked to see her identity card.

It showed that she was only 17 but the teenager was adamant that she was 18.

She added that she wanted the tattoo as a proof of her love to her boyfriend.

Zheng refused and advised her: “You are still young and the future is still uncertain. Don’t make a reckless decision which will cause you to regret later.”

The teenager eventually left.
