KUCHING: The Dayak community should take the opportunity to strengthen their unity during the Gawai celebration, says Tan Sri Abang Johari Openg.
The Sarawak Premier said unity was the foundation for the Dayaks to chart out a bright future along with other communities in the state.
"As a Premier who looks after the interests of all races, I hope the Dayaks will remain united.
"Expand your thinking to become a progressive and dynamic community to face the challenges and opportunities ahead," he said in his Gawai message on Friday (May 31).
Abang Johari said Sarawak was on the right track to become a developed and high-income state by 2030 with various initiatives implemented by the state government.
Among others, he said foreign investors were confident in Sarawak's direction towards developing a green economy based on renewable energy.
"I was in Seoul recently to meet investors who recognise Sarawak's potential as a green energy hub in Asia.
"Three Korean companies have strengthened their commitment to develop the H2biscus project in Bintulu which will produce hydrogen and ammonia as clean energy sources," he said.
In addition, Abang Johari said he had met international companies from Arab countries who wanted to work with Sarawak in green energy, while European Union ambassadors had expressed their interest in similar collaborations.
"As these projects become a reality by 2030, Sarawakians will have the opportunity to take up high-income jobs.
"We are also planning development projects up to 2050 to ensure Sarawak's success continues beyond 2030," he said.
