JOHOR BARU: A man was killed after his car was involved in an accident with a trailer lorry.

Tebrau Fire and Rescue station chief Shamsul Komari Bakar said they received an emergency call at 1.21am on Friday (May 31).

“The incident took place at the Eastern Dispersal Expressway (EDL) near the Pandan R&R area towards Bakar Batu," he said in a statement.

Shamsul said seven firemen from the Tebrau station were deployed to the location.

He said the team extricated the driver of the car and a woman passenger, who were pinned inside the vehicle.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics, he added.

“The woman, who was injured, was rushed to Hospital Sultan Aminah while the lorry driver escaped unhurt," he said.
