TMJ: I don't condone harmful acts or intimidation

KUALA LUMPUR: The Regent of Johor Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim (TMJ) says he does not condone any illegal action or intimidation by a security escort team and has urged the authorities to thoroughly investigate the incident that happened at Kuala Lumpur St Regis Hotel.

"The incident on Tuesday (May 28) where a police officer escort is alleged to have committed a harmful act must be investigated in accordance with the law and give the victim justice," said TMJ on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday (May 31).

"I was informed the following day and immediately urged the Royal Malaysia Police security escort team to cooperate with investigations.

"With this, I urge all quarters to allow the authorities to carry out the investigation.

"I am also aware that there is a movement to drag the royal institution by using this incident.

TMJ said attempts to link the actions of an external security personnel member with him and the entire royal institution were uncalled for.

On Tuesday (May 28) an e-hailing driver lodged a police report claiming he was assaulted by an escort of a prominent individual's entourage.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said the victim lodged the first report claiming that he was attacked by the escort.

Comm Rusdi said the case was being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt.

However the e-hailing driver lodged another report at 9.59pm on Tuesday saying the matter has been solved amicably.
