Man killed in motorcycle crash with cow in Tangkak

KUALA LUMPUR: A 21-year-old man was killed after crashing into a cow while riding a motorcycle at KM6.4 Jalan Sagil, Parit Kasan, in Tangkak.

Tangkak OCPD Supt Roslan Mohd Talib said the victim, a polytechnic student in Merlimau, Melaka, was on his way home towards Sagil at 12.10am on Friday (May 31).

"We believe the victim failed to notice the cow on the road and was unable to avoid the animal. The collision caused the victim to crash on the right side of the road. He was later pronounced dead at the scene," he said in a statement on Saturday (June 1).

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act of 1987.

Meanwhile, in an unrelated case, two men were arrested at a roadblock on Jalan Sungai Danga, Iskandar Puteri, for drunk driving.

Iskandar Puteri OCPD Asst Comm M. Kumarasan said the suspects, aged 38 and 42, were detained under Section 45A(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 (Amendment 2020) for driving under the influence of alcohol.

"The roadblock was conducted under 'Ops Mabuk' from May 30 at 11pm until May 31 at 5am; a total of 33 vehicles and 39 individuals were inspected. We also issued 23 summonses for various traffic offences," he added.
