BDS Malaysia condemns vandalism at fast food restaurants

PETALING JAYA: Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) Malaysia has condemned the recent acts of vandalism at fast food restaurants in Selangor, calling them misguided, foolish, and criminal.

This comes after reports on Friday (May 31) that the Selangor police have recorded seven cases of fast-food restaurants being defaced with boycott-related graffiti sparked by the ongoing genocide of Palestinian civilians in Gaza by Israel.

"BDS Malaysia is a movement that supports and advocates for a boycott against all Israeli interests."

"Acts of vandalism undermine our cause and distract from our global community's legitimate and principled efforts," said BDS Malaysia in a statement on Saturday (June 1).

BDS Malaysia urged all Malaysians to exercise their constitutional right to boycott companies and brands listed on the official BDS boycott list in a manner fully compliant with the country's laws without engaging in destructive or abusive actions towards any person or property.

"This is in line with our established policy of non-violence and peaceful action," the statement read.

The organisation emphasised that the BDS movement was rooted in principles of justice and human rights, aiming to pressure Israel to comply with international law through peaceful and lawful means.
