KOTA KINABALU: Sabah PKR has unveiled its reshuffled leadership line-up following the appointment of Datuk Mustapha Sakmud and Peto Galim as its top two leaders a week ago.
PKR deputy information chief Razeef Rakimin said the reorganisation aims to strengthen the party’s state leadership ahead of the Sabah election, which could be called anytime between now and next year.
Razeef, who is also the Sabah PKR information chief, disclosed that the three vice-presidents are Azmi Datu Tamboyong, Raymond Ahuar and Roslan Sapar, while Sazalye Donol was appointed as secretary and will be assisted by Thonny Chee.
Abdul Razak Jamil is the new treasurer, while Mohd Amin Abdul Mem (communications director), Wendey Agong Baruh (organising secretary), who will be assisted by Remysta Taylor, are also in the line-up.
Milus Alu, meanwhile, has been appointed as the deputy information chief.
In addition, Mustapha, who is also the Deputy Higher Education Minister, will double as the party’s strategy director while Peto will be leading the state election committee (JPRN).
On May 26, PKR information chief Fahmi Fadzil announced the appointment of Mustapha to the position of Sabah PKR chairman and Peto, who is also the Inanam assemblyman and Assistant state Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Industry Minister, as his deputy.
Mustapha, whose appointment took effect immediately, succeeded Datuk Dr Sangkar Rasam, who faced a rebellion from 15 of the 26 Sabah and Labuan PKR divisions.
The appointment, according to former Sabah PKR chief and senior politician, Datuk Christina Liew, has put a lid on the political crisis within the party.
“Now the crisis is over, we need to regroup and work together to strengthen our party in Sabah in time for the state election next year,” said Liew.
