ACTOR Datuk Rosyam Nor (pic, above) has credited the late actor and director Hussein Abu Hassan as the one who made him famous, Mingguan Malaysia reported.
He said he was fortunate to know the legendary actor’s son Faizal, who is also an actor.
“In 1986, I went to his house for a talent test for his father’s movie Gila Gila Remaja. I was only 17 at the time.
“Hussein was a strict director. Once, he scolded me and said my facial expression was like a piece of wood, as in wooden. It’s because I had failed to give the right expression in one of the scenes for the movie.
“Hussein was a fierce director, but because of him, I became a disciplined actor,” said the 57-year-old.
Rosyam said he had also worked with other good directors such as Pansha, Erma Fatima, Rashid Sibir and Datuk Yusuf Haslam, all of whom he said helped to make him popular.
> Metro Ahad reported that a teacher was gifted with a television set by his students who had done well in the SPM examinations.
Muhammad Husni Abu Hassan, who teaches at SMK Tunku Panglima Besar in Kulim, said his students brought the TV to his house on the same day the results were announced last Monday.
“My students asked me whether I was home that night, I said yes. I was shocked when they came to my house carrying the TV set,” he added.
He said he didn’t tell his students that he wanted a TV set.
“But I think they thought about the gift when they visited my house before this, as they realised that my present TV was not working well as the picture wasn’t clear,” he said.
Muhammad Husni, who teaches the Landscape and Nursery subject, said he was happy when he was told that 14 of his 19 students scored A and A- in the subject in the SPM.
