Headmaster killed, doctor hurt in head-on crash near Gua Musang


KOTA BARU: The headmaster of a primary school was killed and a doctor injured in an accident at KM71, Jalan Kota Baru-Gua Musang near here on Tuesday (June 4) morning.

Kuala Krai OCPD Supt Mazlan Mamat said the 26-year-old doctor was driving to Tanah Merah from Gua Musang at 6.50am when he lost control of his car and encroached into the opposite lane, crashing into another car driven by the 52-year-old headmaster.

"Due to the impact and the severe injuries suffered during the accident, the headmaster died while receiving treatment at the Emergency Department of Hospital Sultan Ismail Petra (HSIP) in Kuala Krai.

"The doctor, who suffered chest injuries, is receiving treatment at HSIP.

"The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) Road Transport Act 1987 and a thorough investigation will be carried out,” Supt Mazlan said in a statement.

He urged anyone with information on the accident to contact Kuala Krai Traffic Police to assist with investigations. – Bernama
