PETALING JAYA: Any need to extend the remand period of Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin's parents will depend on the results of ongoing investigations, says Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan.
"The extension will depend on the findings of the questioning conducted within the first remand period, which is until June 7, " he said when contacted on Tuesday (June 4).
Asked if any new leads had emerged since their remand, he said the matter was still under investigation.

Both parents were arrested in Puncak Alam on Friday (May 31).
Following their detention, police also called up three individuals, including the former babysitter of the autistic child.
On Dec 5, Zayn Rayyan was reported missing in Damansara Damai, and his body was later found near a stream about 200m from his home at the Idaman Apartment.
A post-mortem found injuries on his neck and body, leading to the conclusion that he had been killed.

During the investigation, police forensic teams combed the location where the body was found as well as the surrounding areas.
A mass DNA screening was also conducted, with 228 samples collected.
Witnesses, including those who claimed to have last seen the boy alive, were also brought to the scene to assist investigators.
