Malaysia Madani National Training aims to equip youth for modern challenges, says PM

KUALA LUMPUR: The newly launched Malaysia Madani National Training aims to equip youth for today's evolving challenges, such as digital advancements, new energy, and AI, says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The Prime Minister urged youth to seize opportunities presented by technological advancements, emphasising Malaysia's recognition as a leading semiconductor hub.

"All major companies in the fields of digital, new technology, and artificial intelligence (AI) are entering Malaysia, including Microsoft, Google, and leading semiconductor companies from Europe.

"Therefore, the youth must seize these opportunities. New challenges, with an emphasis on digital, new energy, and AI, demand new measures to be taken with a new spirit," he said.

Anwar called on young people to elevate the nation with unity and confidence.

Meanwhile, he added that the module's focus is on patriotism and the sacrifices of Malaysia's forefathers.

"In the module, we appreciate the past leaders of the peninsula, Sabah, and Sarawak. However, appreciating them doesn't mean we're bound to stay as we are," he said in his keynote speech at the Malaysia Madani National Training module launch on Wednesday (June 5).

He said the module is crafted based on constitutional principles and appreciates the contributions of past leaders and independence fighters of the country.

"I am inviting you all to get back on track to elevate the country, with confidence, with the spirit of unity, the love for the nation, and the belief that this country can be elevated as a great nation in the eyes of the world," he said.

He stressed the importance of policies that bolster both domestic strength and external investment.

"Malaysia, as a trading nation, requires core strength but also needs external confidence and investment," Anwar added.

Produced by the Malaysian National Academy (AKM) in collaboration with partners, the module emphasises understanding the country's history and the contributions of all races toward independence.

He also pointed out the sacrifices made by past leaders, drawing parallels to the present need for a focus on public welfare over self-interest.

"Imagine poor parents willing to give up their rings, bracelets, and necklaces to fund leaders flying to London to negotiate with the British for independence.

"Yet, this spirit sometimes fades as we get busy with self-interest without thinking about the welfare of the people," he said.

The Prime Minister also mentioned that the AKM serves as a platform to instil unity and patriotism, warning against it becoming a source of division.

"In this academy, we must be firm, not wanting it to inadvertently become a ground for division and fostering hatred," Anwar said.

The Madani National Training Module combines conventional and digital methods to engage various groups, especially the youth. It features three main elements of nation-building and is available in half-day, one-day, and three-day-two-night courses.
