SINGER Jaclyn Victor, 46, said she is happy that her ex-husband, Shawn Rivera, remarried in April, Berita Harian reported.

She learned about the news through Rivera’s social media account and congratulated him and his new wife, wishing them eternal happiness.

“I found out about their marriage through Rivera’s Instagram account.

“I am genuinely happy that he has found someone and got married,” she said at the Jaclyn Victor First Solo Concert press conference on Tuesday. The concert will be held on Oct 12.

Jaclyn said that she and Rivera still maintain a good relationship.

“We are still good friends and we want to be the best parents for our children,” she added.

Despite living apart, Jaclyn said her former husband stays in touch with the children through social media and he visited Malaysia in early May to spend time with them.

Jaclyn and Rivera were married for five years and have two children, aged nine and seven.

> Iconic blues band Blues Gang is set to hold the ‘Apo Nak Dikato Blues Gang’ concert on Aug 9 to celebrate its 50th anniversary, Harian Metro reported.

Concert organiser Zool Azri Abu Bakar said he is not worried that the concert date clashes with another rock concert.

“The Blues Gang concert date overlaps with another event, but the blues genre is different. I believe the date won’t be an issue because Blues Gang has its own fanbase,” he said.

He added that the concert will feature a seated arrangement instead of standing zones.

“Most Blues Gang fans are aged 50 and above and it’s more relaxing for them to enjoy the concert while seated.”

Vocalist Ito Mohd said he and the band are dedicating this concert to two of their bandmates, bass player Jim Madasamy who passed away in 2018, and drummer and founding member Shaikh Karim, who passed away last year.

“This concert is for them although their spots will be filled in by other musicians,” he added.

They are drummer Munir Mega and bassist Shah Shariff, while Ito’s son Kid Afero will be playing the guitar, said the vocalist.

Original members, including lead guitarist Julian Mokhtar and keyboard player Ghani Abu Talib, will be back as well.

The concert will also include a jamming session with several guest artistes.
