Man killed as car plunges into ravine in Kulai


KULAI: A man was killed after his car plunged into a three-metre-deep ravine on Friday (June 7) at Jalan Jumbo near the Le Grandeur Hotel here.

Kulai Fire and Rescue station officer-in-charge Muhammad Fauzi Awang said they received an emergency call about the incident at 12.39pm.

He said seven firemen and a Fire Rapid Tender vehicle from the Kulai Fire station were deployed to the scene about 7km from the station.

“The victim was found unconscious in the ill-fated car,’’ Muhammad Fauzi said in a statement.

He added firemen had used special equipment and ropes to lift the victim up from the bottom of the ravine.

Muhammad Fauzi said the male victim, in his 20s was pronounced dead by the medical team at the site.

“The body of the deceased has been handed over to the police for further action,’’ he said.

Muhammad Fauzi said the operation led by senior officer II Syafiq Rejab ended at 1.40pm.
