Melaka man beats, slashes older brother in dispute over motorcycle

ALOR GAJAH: A 33-year-old man was seriously injured when his younger brother allegedly slashed him during a dispute over a motorcycle.

Alor Gajah OCPD Supt Ashari Abu Samah said the incident occurred on Wednesday (June 5) night at the fishing village of Kuala Linggi here.

He said the elder brother refused to let the suspect use his motorcycle, and an argument ensued.

"This angered the 27-year-old younger brother, who started hitting the victim with a stick," he said here on Friday (June 7).

Supt Ashari said the victim sought help from police and Rela members, saying that his brother was behaving aggressively.

Policemen accompanied the victim to his house, he added.

"However, the assailant continued to attack his brother, this time with a machete, causing serious injuries to the victim's left wrist," he said.

Supt Ashari said his men immediately arrested the suspect and confiscated the weapon.

He said the victim was rushed to Hospital Alor Gajah before being referred to Hospital Melaka owing to the severity of his injuries.

Supt Ashari added that the suspect also tested positive for drugs.
