Teenager nabbed in Ampang for robbing foreign workers with machete

KUALA LUMPUR: A teenage delivery rider, believed to be part of a robbery gang, has been arrested here on suspicion of robbing two foreign workers of their mobile phones and cash.

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Azam Ismail said the robbery occurred along Jalan Pandan Jaya at around 2.30pm on Monday (June 3).

He said the victims, who work as plumbers, were approached by four men, one armed with a machete.

"They were robbed of their handphones and around RM1,000 in cash.

"At 9.10pm on Wednesday (June 5), we arrested a 19-year-old delivery rider along the same road.

"A motorcycle, helmet and machete were seized to aid investigations.

"Checks found that the suspect has three criminal and four drug-related offences on his record," he said on Friday (June 7).

It is believed that the group targeted foreigners.

"Efforts to trace the other suspects are ongoing," he said.
