JOHOR BARU: A 26-second video clip of a woman feeding a stranger in the next hospital bed has generated and spread feel-good vibes among Malaysians.
It was understood that the woman, who was visiting a sick family member at Hospital Sultanah Aminah here, noticed the man struggling with his meal and decided to lend him a helping hand.
The video, originally posted on TikTok by a user on Friday (June 7), was captioned: “Saw him struggling to eat and my family got his back.”
The clip also stated that patients in other beds are important, too.
In the short video, the woman is seen patiently spoon-feeding the younger man, who could be seen wiping away tears with a tissue while chewing the food.
This has garnered tons of positive reactions from Malaysians on social media who commended the woman's kind actions, while others expressed sympathy for the man.
Many shared their own experiences of receiving help from strangers while hospitalised.
TikTok user @arulwaran10 commented that a mother's love for children transcends race and religion.
The video was also widely shared and commented on Facebook, with users such as Dayanz Nur Fyda sharing her experience after she gave birth previously.
“While waiting for my food to arrive, I was famished and an auntie made me a drink and gave me some biscuits. It was more than enough for me, thanks auntie,” she said.
At the time of writing, the video has received over 308,000 likes and 15,400 comments on TikTok.
Malaysian media corporations and civil society organisations (CSOs) are standing for racial unity and have collectively launched a campaign called “Maaf Zahir Batin Hari Hari” or known as #MZB365. This initiative aims to promote the practice of seeking and giving forgiveness among Malaysians throughout the year.
