PETALING JAYA: The Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Ministry, through the Cooperative Societies Commission of Malaysia, has allocated RM1.044mil in incentives for cooperatives appointed as operators of the Madani Cooperative Sales programme.
Deputy Minister Datuk Ramanan Ramakrishnan said 36 of the Madani sales programmes were conducted nationwide in 19 parliamentary constituencies from January to June 7.
"The Madani Cooperative Sales has benefited 90,535 consumers, including cooperative members and the local community.
"This programme has also recorded RM3.6mil through 95 cooperatives appointed as sales operators," he told a press conference after a walkabout at the Madani sales programme organised by the cooperative commission in conjunction with the Hari Raya Aidiladha celebration in Kota Damansara here Sunday (June 9).
The Cooperative Societies Commission of Malaysia executive chairman, Rusli Jaafar, was also present.
Ramanan also handed over contributions from the Cooperative Emergency Assistance Fund to cooperatives affected by natural disasters during the programme.
"To date, 11 applications have been approved under the emergency fund, with an allocation of RM197,000 for the whole of Malaysia," he said. – Bernama
