Govt to announce claim procedure for diesel rebates

PETALING JAYA: A total of 33 types of public transportation and goods vehicles will continue to receive subsidised diesel through fleet cards under the Subsidised Diesel Regulation System Pilot Project, says Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali.

The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister said any public transport and goods companies that have received approval under the Subsidised Diesel Regulation System Pilot Project but have yet to receive their fleet cards from fuel stations must keep their receipts starting Monday (June 10).

"This is to allow cash rebate claims to be made to the Finance Ministry according to the application procedures that will be announced later," he said in a statement on Sunday (June 9).

The government had previously outlined an improvement to the targeted diesel subsidy initiative to

manage and monitor the subsidised diesel through the fleet card system.

At the same time, Armizan also urged eligible transport companies that have not yet applied for diesel subsidy approval to do so immediately via https://mysubsidi.kpdn.gov.my and subsequently apply for fleet cards from their preferred oil companies.

"We would like to emphasise that all existing directives and regulations related to the sale of diesel remain in force and applicable with the announcement of this new diesel price," noted Armizan.

Earlier, the government announced that diesel prices would be floated and retail at RM3.35 per litre on the peninsula starting at midnight on Monday (June 10), says Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan.

The Finance Minister II said the price is based on May's Automatic Pricing Mechanism formula.

The previous diesel price announced on June 5 was RM2.15 per litre, which would be maintained for Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan.
